The FOCUS SAM² is the most downhill-oriented e-MTB in our line-up. The easily adjustable geometry is made for the roughest trails. With 180/170 mm travel, and fast 29" wheels, this full suspension bike is ready to shred. It is enhanced by a suspension fork with 38 mm stanchions as standard spec. The F.O.L.D. (FOCUS Optimised Linkage Design) kinematics allows the integrated coil or air shock to work best. Thanks to fully integrated C.I.S. cable routing, the cockpit always looks super clean. The Bosch Performance Line CX e-drive with a battery of up to 750 Wh has got your back, even on the steepest climbs.

I want a different shock. What do I need to take into account?
Our advice is to use the specced shock because we optimised it for the F.O.L.D. chassis and the bike's geometry. If you still want to change, you should speak to your local dealer and try if another one fits. As there are many shock models in the market, we cannot guarantee that another one will work.

I want a different fork. What do I need to take into account?
If you want to change your fork, the one you choose has to be "e-bike ready" and approved by the manufacturer. The standard for the fork steerer depends on the fork you already have and is either 1 1/8 - 1.5", or 1 1/8 - 1.8". With the appropriate fork cone you can use both standards. The travel must be 180 mm. If in doubt, ask your FOCUS dealer.
With which coil stiffness does the FOCUS SAM² come?
The coil stiffness is balanced and varies according to the frame size. Smaller sizes have a coil with lower coil stiffness: S: 350 LBS; M: 450 LBS; L: 500 LBS; XL = 550 LBS.
The SAM² 6.7 comes with an air shock.
What SAG do you recommend? What is SAG?
SAG is the amount of way the shock compresses when you just sit on your bike without moving. You can adjust the preload on the coil shock. If the shock is still too hard or too soft, you will need to replace the coil shock. Your FOCUS dealer can help you choose the one. You adjust it with the pressure you pump in your shock with a shock pump. To see the actual percentage, you use the O-Ring that is placed on the fork and shock. Or just check our recommended pressure values: FOCUS SAM² SAG recommendations
Numeration
The FOCUS System of Numeration
All bikes are labelled with two numbers which are divided by a dot. The number in front of the dot represents the frame material and its quality. Carbon is always attributed with the highest number: 9 stands for the highest quality carbon layup, 8 for a carbon frame with aluminium dropout. Our aluminium bikes start at 7 or lower. The number behind the dot stands for the level of specification.
Example: JAM² SL
9.X: MAX full carbon frame
8.X: Carbon frame
X.0: Exceptional top spec beyond the regular spec, in this case super light.
